The Top Pittsburgh Venues to Host Your Shower

top shower venues in pittsburgh

Whether you are looking for a place to hold a bridal or baby shower, finding the perfect spot to host your soirée can sometimes become a daunting task.  A couple of months ago as I was looking for places to hold my baby shower, I realized firsthand how difficult it can be to find a space with character, that serves great food and doesn't break the bank.  Lucky for you, I did all the homework and uncovered some pretty spectacular places to host a unique, totally not lame shower.  These options check all the boxes when it comes to great ambiance, delicious food (or allowing you to bring your own) and an awesome staff just waiting to bring your shower dreams to reality!  Let me know if you have hosted a shower at one of these venues - I'd love to hear about your experience!

1. The Vandal

Address: 4306 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 (Lawrenceville)
Accommodates: The Vandal can accommodate approximately 30 - 40 guests in the restaurant.  There is also an awesome patio.
What it Will Cost You: There is a rental fee of $500 which gets you access to the entire space.  The food prices are also some of the most reasonable of any of the venues on this list, starting around $15 - $20 per person.

Why We Love It: Located on Butler Street in the heart of super trendy Lawrenceville, The Vandal is hipster enough to fit into the neighborhood, but welcoming enough for even a not-so-hip girl like myself to feel totally welcome.  The Vandal is basically a Pinterest / Instagram dream.  Think exposed brick, beamed ceiling, marble table tops, cute flower center pieces and gorgeous light streaming through the front windows.  The food is awesome (just check out their Yelp reviews) and it's BYOB (so if you're serving alcohol at your shower, this could be a major cost savings).  We also love the outdoor patio area, which would be the perfect spot to set-up your gift table or have guests mingle before brunch.  Owner, Joey Hilty is super responsive and will work with you to customize a menu that's sure to please all of your guests -

2. Hotel Monaco - Rialto Suite / Rooftop

best bridal shower venues in pittsburgh

Address: 620 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (Downtown)
Accommodates: The Rialto Suite will hold 40 nicely, but the hotel has various spaces to accommodate groups of just about any size. I'm a sucker for a rooftop on a gorgeous day and Hotel Monaco has one of the best rooftop spaces in the city.
What it Will Cost You: There is a rental fee for the space and that cost will depend on the size of your group and what day you are holding the shower.  In order to keep food costs reasonable, I would recommend doing a buffet style brunch or lunch.  Lunch and brunch buffet prices start at around $36 / person.  Another option (which would be so fun for a co-ed shower) is to bypass a sit-down brunch or lunch and do a cocktail and appetizers style party instead.

Why We Love It: I absolutely love everything about this hotel.  From the unique decór to the amazing staff to the gorgeous view from the rooftop, everything at Hotel Monaco is designed to stimulate the senses and create an unforgettable experience.  When planning your shower, the linens, food and alcohol are all taken care of by the hotel, so there's no need to coordinate with a bunch of different vendors.  Kristen, their Catering Sales Manager, is an absolute pleasure to work with and will be able to answer any questions you may have -

3. Café du Jour

Address: 1107 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203 (Southside)
Website: No website - just give them a call - (412) 488 - 9696
Accommodates: Approximately 30 guests can be comfortably seated inside the restaurant.
What it Will Cost You: Though it might change at some point, they typically do not charge a rental fee for the space.  Of course, you will pay for food, but it's one of the more reasonable options at around $20 a person and the food is amazing.

Why We Love It: Of all the venues on this list, Café du Jour might truly be the hidden gem, mainly because they have no website.  However, word of mouth has certainly gotten this restaurant noticed.  If you love the idea of being able to rent out an entire space exclusively for your family and friends, then Café du Jour is a great option.  They also have an adorable patio area perfect for mingling or spillover of guests.

4. Smallman Galley

Events at Smallman Galley Pittsburgh

Address: 54 21st Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
Accommodates: Smallman Galley can accommodate 20 – 40 guests in the Private Dining Room and Patio areas, 50 – 70 guests in the Main Dining Room and upward of 175 guests in the entirety of the space.  In other words, whether you are planning an intimate gathering or an all-out bash, Smallman Galley has the perfect space for you.
What it Will Cost You: For a weekday, rental fees range from $200 to $1,000 and for a weekend rental, expect to pay between $400 and $2,000.  Rental prices are definitely fair considering at the higher end you are buying out the entire restaurant space (how cool is that).  All rentals include the existing reclaimed-wood tables, chairs, china, flatware, glassware and paper napkins.  As for food, there are several packages ranging from a Hors D’oeuvres and Small Plates Station to various Buffet-Style options to a Four Course Plated option.

Why We Love It: I honestly don’t have enough room in this post to list all the reasons I recommend Smallman Galley, so I would encourage you to pop over to their website and see for yourself!  However, to try and touch on some of the highlights, Smallman Galley is actually 2 bars and 4 restaurants all in one space which creates a totally unique dining experience.  They describe themselves as a restaurant incubator and food hall and because all four of the restaurant concepts partake in catering each event, the food is always guaranteed to be phenomenal!   If a good cocktail is your thing, they specialize in local, draft beer, small vineyard wines and craft spirits and cocktails.  Are you busting at the seams with creative ideas for your party?  Smallman Galley has an awesome Director of Marketing and Sales, Noelle, that would love to partner with you to make your event truly one-of-a-kind -

5. Bar Marco - Union Hall

Best Pittsburgh Wedding Planner Shower Venue Bar Mar co

Address: 2216 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (Strip District)
Accommodates: Bar Marco can host showers for groups as large as 60 attendees.  If you plan on playing a lot of games or want more space for mingling, it would be best to cap your guest list at around 50.
What it Will Cost You: There is a very reasonable space usage fee of $300 for daytime events which includes access to the space for up to 5 hours as well as tables, chairs, black linens, flatware, glassware and use of the sound system.  For showers, Bar Marco will typically provide a sit-down brunch served family style which starts at $30 / person.  As a “hospitality included” restaurant, you won’t need to worry about those pesky service and gratuity charges surprising you at the end of your party.  Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s and other simple cocktails are available and can be paid by consumption.

Why We Love It: Bar Marco is a full-service events space in a turn of the century firehouse building.  With its textured ceiling and huge windows, the space is absolutely gorgeous.  We love the look of the long banquet tables, but there are a number of ways to configure tables and chairs in the space.  The rental fee is quite reasonable considering everything that is included and the food is always amazing!  Andrew Heffner is extremely helpful and will walk you through everything you need to know to plan the perfect shower -

6. Willow

Best Pittsburgh Wedding Planners

Address: 634 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 (North Hills)
Accommodates: Willow’s newly renovated space can accommodate groups as small as 10 to as large as 150.  Willow boasts five different event rooms, so you’re sure to find a space that matches your group’s needs.
What it Will Cost You: Pricing is based on a food and beverage minimum rather than room fees.  The banquet menu is quite extensive and features a range of hot and cold appetizers, various brunch, lunch and dinner buffets as well as a plated lunch or dinner option.  Food prices are reasonable starting at $22 per person for the lunch buffet and $25 for the brunch.  Bars are fully customizable and priced per consumption.  White linens, napkins and votive candles are also provided.  There’s also free onsite parking.

Why We Love It: The extensive banquet menu, beautiful wooded ambiance and wonderful special events staff are just a few of the reasons we love Willow for your shower.  It’s sometimes difficult to find a space that’s small enough or large enough, so we love that Willow can accommodate groups of varying sizes.  Plus, they have three rooms to choose from that accommodate 45 to 60 guests, which is usually your “sweet spot” when planning a shower.  The extensive food offerings also guarantee that even the pickiest guests will be satisfied.  Chelsea Muntz is able to tell you all about the various room options and menu selections in more detail -
